How can I help?
We get asked, “How can I help you?” or “How can I
help the Linux movement?”
We'll list some of the things you can do below. They are broken down
into two sections
What can you do for us (cruzit.com) and what you can do for the
Linux and/or the
Open Source Movement.
What can I do for cruzit.com?
First you should know that cruzit.com is an all volunteer and ad free
site.
Check the following. Any help is definitely appreciated. This is an
evolving, unordered list.
- Most of the pages of this site have some form of links for donations.
-
We need a new server. We would prefer at a minimum:
Dual 2Ghz Quad core CPU or better, 32GB ECC RAM or better,
and SAS or SATA drives (7500 PRM or faster).
If you or someone you know has components to make this work,
we can build it. Components needed are chasis, motherboard & CPU
(2 or more SMP).
Use the contact information below.
-
Any help on bandwidth would be appreciated. Anything from $1.00 a month to $200.00 a month
would help a greatly. Use this contact information.

We lost our corporate donation for bandwidth!
Please consider a donation to help keep us on-line!
Personally, I think one of the most important things to do right
now, is spread the word.
Whether it is via email, websites, forums, burning CD's of your
favorite OSS or by word of mouth.
The following may also help:
- Bug reporting is very important. All versions of Linux or the BSD
family (
FreeBSD,
OpenBSD,
DragonFlyBSD,
etc.) have bug reporting mechinisms in place. If you experience a bug,
please report it.
- Donate some time, money or contact someone on the distribution
team to see what kind of
hardware they might need. You may have some old computer or peripheral
laying around, that
they could use in testing.
- Spread the word via
Libreoffice.org
documents. (inuendo intended)
- Show someone your open source computer doing some magic. Things
like 3ddesktop and
Compiz inspire the masses.
